The Marescialla fragrance is a bouquet of spicy, woody-oriental notes. This unique composition, originally created in the 19th century, opens with top notes of nutmeg, which then unfold into dry, woody notes at its heart and base.
The original formula of this fragrance, initially conceived as a scented powder, was created by a French noblewoman, Countess d’Aumont. She was the wife of a Marshal of France and would scent his gloves with this fragrance.
The Marescialla fragrance gained immense popularity at the end of the 19th century, notably worn by the protagonist Angelica at the grand ball of Salina in Tomasi di Lampedusa’s great novel “The Leopard”: “from her décolletage came the scent of bouquet a la Marechale…”
