Trimming the wick helps maintain a stable and even flame, and prevents the candle from smoking. The first burn is the most important. Allow the candle to burn long enough so that the wax melts to the edge of the container, approximately 3-4 hours. This will ensure the melted wax covers the entire surface of the candle, preventing “tunneling.”
